Church of England School of the Resurrection

Belong, Believe, Achieve

Welcome to Reception

Wow! Another half term and another amazing WOW Day in Reception.  We have now raised almost £100 towards our class charity from both our WOW days.  Nursery have raised an additional £43.50 from our Pyjama Day.  Thank you for your amazing support towards our class charity - St Mary's Premature Baby Unit.  Please see some of our incredible pictures below.  We are looking forward to learn more about our Bears in the Night topic - as we explore Day and Night all next week.  The following week, we enter the Milky Way as we explore the topic of Space.  Keep following the website for regular updates about our learning in Reception.

Watch this space for more exciting and fun opportunities throughout this year.

Thank you again,

Mr Smith and Miss Crompton.

We're going on a Bear Hunt!  Reception went on a Bear Hunt and found a new friend... Seb the Sloth.  What an exciting and fun day for the children marching around the big school playground.  All the children have had the opportunity to make their own Bear faces out of delicious chocolate spread onto bread.  Thank you for all your generosity.  We were able to raise over £50 for our Class Charity.  Keep returning to the page as we will be adding more learning as the year progresses.

We are looking forward to another exciting book next week. We are reading the story of Little Rabbit Foo Foo by the same famous author Michael Rosen.

Thank you,

Mr Smith and Miss Crompton.

Welcome to our Reception Journey.  Please keep checking this page for regular updates.  Thank you.

Reading in Reception

Your child will take part in a shared read in a small group each week and will also read individually once a week after their reading ability has been assessed.  Each child will be allocated a day that their book will be changed each week.  Please note: During this first half term Reading books will not be going home.  When books are eventually issued, parental support makes a huge difference to your child’s education therefore sharing your child’s reading book with them for five minutes each evening will have a huge impact. Please sign or leave a comment in your child's reading diary. To support your child’s segmenting and blending skills further there is a great free phonics resource at www.phonicsplay.co.uk which has a range of tricky word games and segmenting and blending games.
