Games

Each class years 1-6 take part in a 45 minute session with a specialist coach and he delivers many aspects of the PE curriculum to help children develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities. Children also complete a mile long run per day around our millennium track and receive an award when they complete a full marathon. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in team games, developing tactics for attacking and defending as well as activities such as rounders.

Dance, Gymnastics & Athletics

Each class is timetabled a weekly slot in the hall and they are taught Dance or Gymnastics on a weekly basis and these subjects alternate each half term.  Teachers follow the Valsabian scheme of work for Dance and Gymnastics. In the summer term, pupils complete a term of athletics outside utilising the Great British sunshine. 

Swimming

Year 4 learn to swim and a weekly basis for 1 hour, throughout the Autumn and Spring Term. Year 3 start swimming in the Summer term and continue on in Year 4 which means the pupils access a whole year a swimming lessons at no cost to parents. Following End of Year assessments, 90% of children met the government standard of being able to swim 25 meters unaided in a pool. The vast majority of pupils achieved 50-100 meters unaided.
