Belong, Believe, Achieve
Throughout the school the children took part in a variety of fun and exciting sporting activities over the week beginning the 13th June. It was a great opportunity for children to take part in Sports they may never have the experience of outside school.
On Monday the children in Key stage One and Two each had a 40 minute lesson of fencing. They learnt the basic rules and were able to develop simple tactics for attacking and defending. They then took part in some intra school competitions working in pairs.
Each class from Reception to Year six also had a lesson with the dietitians. They discussed where different types of foods come from and the children each tasted some healthy foods.
On Tuesday each class had the opportunity to go on the ice rink. The children were able to develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance. The children really enjoyed this.
On Wednesday each class had a Zumba session. The children had to move to the beat of the music and perform dances using a range of movement patterns.
On Thursday Year 3 and 4 took part in a sugar swap lesson with the school nurse.
Years Six to Four took part also took part in a Frizby lesson. This allowed the children to develop their running, jumping, throwing and catching skills.
This was followed by years Two to Nursery each taking part in a Multi sports lesson. This allowed the children to develop basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and apply these in a range of activities.
Years one to six also watched a football match Whales verses England. They each had an Ice cream, made a flag and each had their faces painted with the England flag.
